When you're going to be using concealer under foundation, use concealer just one shade lighter than your foundation. That will not interfere with the way your foundation looks, but will give you the added coverage that you need.
Concealer can become one of your favorite cosmetic products, but there are several things that you need to know to make the most of its benefits. For example, which colors are you likeliest to use, and where? You can choose a color the same shade as your foundation, lighter, darker, or yellow or green. Each of these has different uses.
Green can be used to neutralize pink and red. If your skin is red from dryness or if you have a red blemish, dot green concealer on and blend it gently. Then apply your foundation over it, and the redness will be significantly reduced. Yellow neutralizes purples and bluish colors. If you have dark circles under your eyes, dot on some yellow concealer before applying foundation, and your eyes will look brighter and you'll seem visibly more awake.
If you have dry skin but you want to conceal blemishes, you're going to run into a common problem. Your concealer is likely to cake or dry up around the blemish, leading to a flaky mess that calls attention to the blemish even if the concealer minimized its redness. One of the best ways to avoid this is mixing your concealer with just a hint of moisturizer or using a Q-Tip to dot the moisturizer around the blemish.
